Expunged Kauai County Board of Ethics documents now public record
The state Office of Information Practices (OIP) has released unredacted Kauai County Board of Ethics documents despite a request by the County of Kauai that these documents, "not be made available to the general public."
The May 5, forty six page fax from County Clerk Peter Nakamura to OIP stated that the unredacted documents transmitted by email to the County Clerks office by Kauai County resident Richard Stauber had been expunged and will not be part of the County of Kauai Council public records. Nakamura also requested OIP "open an investigation into how Mr. Stauber improperly obtained these confidential documents."
The 46 page fax transmittal from the Kauai County Clerk containing Stauber's unredacted documents are now part of OIP's public record and may be read in full by clicking on the link below. (1.5Mb PDF file)
